Your foursquare tips are now editable
If you’ve ever made a typo in a foursquare tip, you’ll like this recent change: your tips are now editable.
To edit a tip, all you have to do is mouse over it ont he venue page and click the “edit” link. The tip will change into a text box where you can make your change and save it. Any tip that’s been edited will show an “Edited at …” timestamp instead of the original date it was created.
Before this change, the only way to correct a tip was to delete it altogether and create a new one. If you noticed the error right away, that usually wasn’t such a big deal, but if you noticed a few weeks or months later, the tip could have collected a significant number of likes. Deleting the tip erased all those likes, so it often made more sense to simply leave the typo as it was. With the edit option, that isn’t a problem since likes stay even after it’s been edited.
Along with the tip reporting foursquare rolled out in the Android app recently (it will likely come to the web and iOS soon), this move should help to keep the tips cleaner since there’s no longer a penalty for correcting a mistake.
What do you think of the change?
/Thanks to Jérôme for pointing this out!
