Yoga masters get rewarded with the Downward Facing Dog badge
Foursquare this afternoon released a new core badge that’s a nod to Yoga masters everywhere, the Downward Facing Dog Badge. Presumably you can earn the badge by checking in to Yoga studios.
The unlock text reads:
After countless chakra cleansing hours, you’re making those stretch pants proud with a perfect Half Moon and an om-mazing Tree Pose. Namaste.
The badge is one of foursquare’s core badges, meaning they can be unlocked anywhere in the world. Foursquare releases a new one each week. They’re differentiated from partner badges by their round shape.

Meh. I personally have never tried yoga, so this one’s probably not something I’ll be unlocking anytime soon. Thanks for the quick update though, Chris!
As far as “Foursquare releases a new one each week.” goes… is this an established fact for the foreseeable future or just your observation of their releases over the last couple weeks? I’m wondering if having such an over-saturation of new badges in such a short period of time will take the thrill (or exclusiveness) out of trying to get “THE latest & greatest badge.”

I’d think so. Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE the badges. They obviously add a major incentive to try out new places or local hot spots in my area (Los Angeles).
But creating a badge for EVERY activity/event under the sun removes a lot of the “uniqueness” out of badge earning. I understand having a platform that reaches all different types of people/interests, but having a badge for every single one within a small window of time might just be a tad bit overkill.
Dennis Crowley has said that they try to release one new core badge every week. Can’t find the tweet right now, though.
Interesting. I can dig it though. I’ll probably start to gravitate less towards filling up my Trophy Case and more towards the more exclusive Brand-sponsored badges.
Either way, good for the Yoga folks who can and will earn their own special badge legitimately.
Unless my wife starts taking up yoga and I have to start dropping her off like the rest of you guys, then I guess that’s one less badge for me to earn.
Checked in 4 different Yoga Studios and have not got the badge. Do we have to check in at the same studio more than 3 times?

I have 13 check in’s total and 9 for the month and it did not unlock the badge. I am the only one to have checked in to my studio. Anyone else having any issues?
I have 4 check-in’s in 4 days at the same Yoga studio. Still haven’t unlocked this badge.
i checked in 8 times i got zee badge !
Don’t you sometimes have to include a ‘shout’ with a check-in to get some badges or to get a Mayorship??
I haven’t seen anyone here mention if they included a shout or not.
