Find New York’s best eateries and unlock your Where to Eat 2011 Badge
Each year, New York Magazine puts out their “Where to Eat” guide as assembled by restaurant critic Adam Platt. The 2011 edition comes with a little bonus, however. Visiting five of his recommended restaurants earns you a new foursquare badge, Where to Eat 2011.
The magazine also mentions that by earning the badge, you get “a chance to win tasty discounts and prizes.” Presumably more details will be forthcoming.
The unlock text reads:
From haute sandwich shops to brand new tikki bars, you clearly know Where to Eat in New York.
To make it easy to mark the restaurants on your foursquare to-do list, the recommended restaurants page offers an “add to foursquare” button for each one. The buttons are a growing trend we’re seeing on more and more sites with location based information.

Exactly. I have a feeling the odds of someone in NY actually unlocking this badge versus someone in Indonesia is about 1:1000. Whoever is sifting through badge awards to hand out tangible prizes is gonna have their work cut out for them to rule out half the Indonesian population.

Matters Of Grey website says it takes 3 checkins at recommended venues but it took me 5 checkins. FYI!
It takes five checkins, but appears to count past checkins at those venues, so some people will be able to unlock it with fewer checkins if they’ve visited any of those venues in the past.
Another NY badge? What are we up to 200 NY badges now?
Not too pretty… Feels like by now Foursquare has quite a few fork and knife badges of very similar design
