Wondering what’s for lunch? Try Where Next?!
I always have a hard time deciding what to have for lunch. Making a foursquare list has helped keep track of the local options, but I still have a hard time deciding where to go. Apparently I’m not alone, because a new foursquare-connected app is designed to help answer that question for you every day.
Where Next?! finds the last place you checked in on foursquare and sends you an email at lunch time each day with nearby lunch recommendations from foursquare Explore. It even includes the reasoning behind the recommendations.
When you sign up, you tell Where Next?! what time you want to receive the recommendations and which days of the week to send them. If you only go out on the weekends, for instance, you don’t have to get them all through the week, too.
Where Next?! is a side project from foursquare engineer Zack Sheppard.
This is an easy way to help settle that age-old dilemma of what to eat for lunch. It’s especially helpful for people who aren’t in the same place at lunch-time each day. I’m usually in my office at lunchtime, so the recommendations don’t vary too much, but for people who travel often, this is a great tool.
Give Where Next?! a try and let us know what you think in the comments.

i’ve created a foursquare app that tells the user what to do, based on its 4sq activity.
i just made an android prototype. is there a way to be endorsed by you or something?
thanks in advance!
I’m happy to take a look at anything foursquare-related. You can send an email to the tips address at right. I’m an iPhone guy, though, so Android apps are a little harder to review.
thank you very very much!
I’m an android user and superuser on 4sq, can I test it?
hi Diego,
it’s funny you fine me here, considering we are both italian.
however, i’m happy for your request and if you follow me on twitter we can stay in touch and send you a preview. If you like it, i hope you can review it too!
Any plans for BlackBerry? I can test it.
sounds great, is this avaliable in Australia as well?
It should be, but I haven’t gotten an email in the past few days, so it may be dead for everyone.
So I’ve been using Where Next?! for a couple of weeks now. It’s a great idea, but needs some tuning. I’m finding that if I’m checked into someplace near restaurants I’ve previously visited, those are often showing up on my list. And if I happen to be in the same place two days in a row, I’m likely to get the same suggestions two days in a row.
I’d personally like to use this service to tell me about places I may not already know about. Having an e-mail just telling me to go some place I already frequent isn’t very helpful.
