One of the perks for businesses that add mayor specials is a special stats dashboard that tells them who is checking in and when. They receive statistics like what days and times are most popular for checkins, the gender breakdown and how many checkins are shared with Facebook and Twitter. The can see this information broken down over a range of time periods from “today” to “last 90 days.” In addition, they get a list of the most recent checkins and their most frequent visitors. These lists include:

• Your first name and last initial
• Your profile picture
• Your Twitter username (if it’s linked to your account)
• When you last checked in
• How many times you’ve checked in there
• A link to your Foursquare public profile page

If you’re concerned about businesses you frequent having this information about you, you can opt out on your Settings page by unchecking the box next to “Let local businesses see that I’ve checked-in at their venue.” I’m not personally concerned about giving this information to businesses I frequent; many of them that are active and engaged enough to offer a special on Foursquare are also active and engaged with their customers and already know who I am and when I visit.
