Volunteer as tribute just by checking in at HMV stores on Sunday
UK music & movie retailer HMV is marking the launch of the first Hunger Games DVD with a special foursquare sweepstakes this Sunday.
Fans at 12 designated HMV stores districts will check in on foursquare to “volunteer as tribute” this Sunday between 2 pm and 3 pm. Each store will hold a “reaping,” selecting two tributes from their district to send on to the “Capitol” reaping to be held at the flagship Oxford Street store that afternoon. From the 24 finalists, one winner will be selected (along with an additional winner who’s checked in to the Oxford Street store) to receive a pair of tickets to the UK premiere of Catching Fire, the second movie in the Hunger Games series.
Monday marks the UK DVD/BluRay release of the first Hunger Games movie. 100 lucky attendees at each store will get the opportunity to purchase the movie a day early. The 24 finalists will also get a Hunger Games goody bag.
This is a fun way to tie foursquare in to the movie release festivities for HMV. It sounds like the entire event is perfectly themed to the movie, so it should be a fun event even for those who aren’t selected as tributes.
