VisitPA launching a new badge; retiring three old ones
VisitPA, the official tourism site of the State of Pennsylvania, announced today that they’ll be launching a new badge on Saturday, October 1: Lock & Keystone. At the same time, they’ll be retiring their original three badges.
Foursquare users will be able to unlock the Lock & Keystone badge by following VisitPA and checking in at any five recommended venues within the Keystone State. It will be available beginning at midnight Saturday.
As soon as that badge goes live, the original three badges will no longer be available. PA Shooflyer honored users who checked in at recommended dining spots, PA Retail Polka was for users who checked in at recommended retail locations and PA 4 Score & 7 marked checkins at recommended historic sites.
Lock & Keystone is actually VisitPA’s fifth partner badge. They sponsored a badge for Groundhog Day 2011 in addition to the three original badges above.
Have you earned any of the original badges? What do you think of the new one?

Aw, I always wanted to go to PA and earn those first 3 badges. Sad to see them go. Like the simplicity of the new badge, it reminds me of the Gowalla state pins.
I got my Shooflyer and 4 Score & 7 badges last year… couldn’t get to the Philly area to get that Retail Polka though (easiest place).
This one should be easy for me if retroactive. I’ll just have to go visit my mom… haha.
That suck!!!!!!! i am going to Philly on sunday and im only missin the polka badge GRRRRRRRR
I feel bad but I just cheated it with the moblie app. But when I am down there I will go to the places I checked in (I Needed 2 of the 3) and I will do it after I get the new badge.
Heading to Blue Bell, PA next weekend. Excellent timing!
I’m sad I never got the chance to go to Pennsylvania and unlock them.
it’s disappointing that foursquare would allow a 2 day notice of a badge retiring like this. you can’t even plan a trip for the weekend to go grab them because the deadline is midnight friday!
