Unlocking a foursquare badge takes a little of the pain out of a hangover
Just like the Swimmies badge, another dedicated SXSW badge has risen from the ashes to take on a new life on foursquare. Today the Hangover badge was resurrected for users who are “late to bed and early to rise.” Foursquare provides a great tip in the unlock text:
Good luck making it through the day. Tip: bacon egg n’ cheese and orange gatorade will be your bestest friend.
This badge should be available worldwide. Good luck earning it — and recovering!

How can you unlock these badges?

If it is anything like the original, check-in after 2 am and again before 10am.

This badge was made for U.S. soccerheads as much as the World Cup ones were. This is called Friday night and Saturday morning for us.
I think a shout about one or more of those food items is also required.

The badge kinda looks like the symbol for a dead person….they should have made the eyes beer bottles or something instead of Xs. Can’t wait to unlock though!

Ok, so I totally tested this out last night after some drinks with my buddies and got home around 3 in the morning and woke up to get tacos at 9:10am.

Yea, I’m with Rudy. I woke up at around 2:30am to check into my house, and got the RED badge, but then woke up again at 7 to re-checkin, and nothing. No badge
Didn’t work for me, either. [3AM check-in at 24-hour cafe, 9AM check-in at Starbucks.]
Reading the tip, my current guess is you need to check-in early at a McDonald’s. Wild guess, tho
McDonalds? Blecchhh! [I guess I could go there for a Coke.]
I did a similar test (2:02 a.m. & 9:45 a.m.) and nada. I’ll try again tonight with 3:03 a.m. at home then 6:30 a.m. at the local gas station (I live 1/4 mile away) & McDonald’s (1.5 miles away).
i got the hangover badge first shot! checked in at 430 am when i woke up. then checked in again at work around 8 am and got it that check in. i checked in several times in between though also
Could be that the post-2AM check-in has to be at a venue tagged bar/nightclub/etc. and the pre-10AM at McDonalds. I might try that combo on Thursday night if nothing else works.
On another note, I got my (RED) and Swimmies badges today. Woohoo!
I will be watching for more information on how to get this badge.
I think that it’s more about the timing and the difference between the late night check-in and the early morning check-in. (i.e. one check-in @ 2:15am then another check-in within 5 hours the next morning @ 7:05am). I’ll test and report.
what i did is check in to a bar venue on 4 in the morning afterthat i check-in to an office venue on 5 in the morning.. (there were an office venue near my home) and the badge was unlocked.. hope this help.

I tried checking in to a bar venue, then a office venue (2:17am & 7:52am) with no luck
same with me. checked in at my house at 2:03am last night… then again right when i woke up.. nothing. =(
i stayed up for nothing. =(
Same-ish story. Checked in at the bar after closing around 3AM, then this morning at the office around 9:30.
Probably not going to lose any more sleep trying to unlock this one.
Two nights in a row for me with no luck. First night I did check into other locations during the night, but last night I went to bed with a check in and woke up with one, minus any badge.
Maybe you have to check in after 4 am, and then again at around 8am?
I believe the time between check-ins is important. I checked into a bar at 5:00 AM, then work at 8:00 AM (only a three-hour difference) and the badge unlocked.
i tried checking in at bar place @ 2.02am and at office location @ 8.59am thereafter and got it unlocked.
but i checked in to the wrong place and deleted my check-in (badge gets revoked) and checked in again at 9.05am (to the correct office location) i dont get the badge anymore.
i think 7hrs is the max difference
Bar check-in at 2:23AM; office check-in at 6:37AM [Central time zone] = no badge.
Call me crazy, but I think you need to check into a gas station…I havn’t tried this yet, but it makes sense, where else can you get a bacon egg and cheese with a gatorade?
SUCCESS! I deleted my office check in, then checked in again an hour later and unlocked the badge.
I don’t think that it has anything to do with the times. I think foursquare is just overwhelmed and not managing things well, just like they did with the (RED) badge.
Is it just me oris anyone else having toruble uinlocking this badge? I’ve been at it for days and still nothing! I am up and checxking in at odd moments of the day and its epically failing!

@hydr0henry I’m having the same issue, I’ve tries checking into bars at night or home or an office in the morning. I’ve been having problems unlocking badges a lot lately to the point where I feel foursquare has put some kind of block on me but I’m not sure? Even posted in the support forums and nothing. I have a lot of badges and maybe the more you have the more hoops they make you jump through?
I have had problems also but check in to a venue categorized as “Bar†after 2am, then check in to a venue categorized as “Corporate / Office†before 10am. This badge unlocks Monday-Friday only

check in at Club, Bar, and others nightlife category places, still couldnt get it
I check my 4sq main page, there’s isnt this badges in it like other badges which available but hvnt unlock..
Could it be retired?? or do i need to follow some other pages to unlock it??

Check in to a venue categorized as “Bar†after 2am. The next day check in to a venue categorized as “Corporate / Office†before 10am. This badge can only be unlocked during the week (Monday-Friday).
