UK users planning a foursquare “foxhunt”
Foursquare users in the town of Cheltenham, UK are planning Foursquarestival, a foursquare “foxhunt.” It will be held on Saturday, August 21. The goal is to increase Cheltenham’s profile as a destination for creatives and to help support local businesses by driving traffic their way.
The creators of Foursquarestival will add tips and clues to locations around the city, including independent local businesses and places of cultural or artistic significance. At each stop, the participants (“hounds”) will locate a “fox” whole will provide a clue about the next location. The hounds will work their way to a party at a secret location to finish off the hunt.
It’s great to see groups (including Chicago’s FIJI Urban Hunt a week earlier) using the foursquare platform to plan scavenger hunt-type activities around their cities. All foursquare users stand to benefit from their efforts as they will make more businesses aware of the opportunities to market themselves through foursquare.
