Tripl keeps tabs on your friends’ travels in a beautiful way
Between all the mundane daily check-ins on foursquare, sometimes it’s hard to know when your friends are traveling or just running errands at home. Throw in all the clutter of Facebook’s news feed and it gets even harder. If you’re the kind of person who likes to know about the exotic locations your friends visit, you need a filter to pick out just the travel-related posts. You need Tripl.
Tripl offers either a universal iOS app or a desktop site. Both connect to your Facebook, foursquare or Instagram accounts, where they weed through all the cruft to find friends who are away from home. Their photos and check-ins are then displayed beautifully, making it easy to keep tabs on who’s traveling and where. The desktop site even offers to find your friends who are near where other friends are traveling, along with links to Wikipedia’s information about the area and place to buy tickets to take a trip of your own.
You can bookmark the places you like, add comments or “like” particular trips, but it’s quite likely your friends won’t seem them at all because the best part of Tripl is that your friends don’t have to be part of Tripl. Since it’s only for digesting trips, it works on top of your existing social networks without forcing your friends to use yet another app to share their travels.
Both versions of Tripl, the desktop site and iOS app, are quite beautiful. A lot of attention has been paid to the way information is laid out and the sharp design works to reinforce the user experience.
If you have a keen interest in your friends’ travels, Tripl is an ideal app for weeding through the unnecessary data and finding just the information you want to see.
Tripl is free in the iOS app store or on their website. Give it a try and let us know what you think in the comments.
