The Toys R Us badge and discounts make their triumphant return on Black Friday
Thanksgiving has really snuck up on me this year. It’s hard to believe that a week from today we’ll be caught up in the frenzy of Black Friday shopping. There’s one store you won’t want to pass up on the big day — Toys R Us. They’re once again offering their Geoffrey Holiday badge and a host of discounts for foursquare users.
You’ll be able to unlock the badge by checking in on Thanksgiving Day or Black Friday (most stores open at 9 pm on Thursday) at your local Toys R Us store. When you unlock the badge, you’ll receive a coupon for 15% off a purchase of $150 or more (some exclusions apply) that’s valid Sunday, November 27 through Saturday, December 3.
There will also be Swarm deals available at each store when more than 15 people are checked in at the same time (within a three hour window) on November 24 or 25. You’ll be able to choose from the following offers:
- Buy One, Get One 40% on no-contract phone cards
- $50 off the Imaginarium City Central Train Table
- 40% off all Incredible Edibles
Throughout the holiday season, shoppers will receive the Geoffrey Holiday badge and more opportunities to save by checking in on foursquare.
This is Toys R Us’ second year offering a badge and discounts for foursquare users. Their Geoffrey the Giraffe badge was a hit last year, even though it was only available on Black Friday. The expanded availability should make it even more popular this year. Hopefully cashiers will be better trained than they were last year to accept foursquare discounts. Many users (myself included) had trouble redeeming foursquare offers.
What do you think of the new Geoffrey Holiday badge? Do you think there will be many stores unlocking the 15 person swarms during Black Friday?
No related posts.

There were a few people checked into my own ToysRUs last year on Thursday night – doubt we’d get enough for any sort of swarm deal though. Even if we did – their special offers are so random. No-contract phone cards? WTF?
Having said that, I may swing by again this year to get the badge. Whether I go in or not will depend on the line (which was bonkers last year). Most of my xmas shopping will likely be done by then.
I don’t think I’ll try for this badge, would not buy anything in any case as I am boycotting any store that’s opening on Thanksgiving day.
Will this be a new badge or is it the same as the one I got last year?
According to AF’s Google+ page, don’t know yet. Waiting on response from either of the companies.
US only or also available in European stores??
I believe US only, but I don’t know for sure.
there is no toysrus by me. will it work at a babies r us??
Sorry, I don’t know. They only mention Toys R Us in the press release, but it may work at Babies R Us, too.
Is there anyone to follow? I can’t find a brand for Toys R Us, but my instincts tell me I should.
Nope. Just check in at one of their stores.

REmember like last year, these didnt pop up right away. THey are new locations and not the current Toys R us locations. Last year i checked into the one with quotes around the R and got it. The venue should be “staffed” by the Toys R Us page itself.
Over the past year I’m guessing the vast majority have been properly merged. Also, there’s no longer a way to tell if Toys”R”Us is the “staff” or not.
I checked in and no badge. What a waste.
