Walgreens was among the first national chains to claim all their stores. They’ve offered branded tips and even feature the foursquare logo on a sign as you exit the store, but until today they’ve never advertised a special on foursquare. Today they’re celebrating friends and family day and offering foursquare users a discount for checking in.

You can save 15% on eligible items and 20% on Walgreen’s brand products. As with all sales, some restrictions apply.

This is a one day only sale, valid Thursday, March 31. Search for Walgreens on foursquare to find a store offering the special in your area.

    Sounds like a good discount (vs a 5% or 10% thing)… but being only 1 day, it’s unlikely I’ll be using it. We just got our groceries and all those kinds of items the other day. So there really isn’t anything I would NEED to buy today.

    Like ack514, I don’t NEED to buy anything this very minute; however, to take advantage of the discount, I can never have too many paper towels, toilet paper or paper plates.

      Ha… we doubled up on our paper towels during our last shopping trip.

    I wonder if these large chain companies that claim their venues ever go back and claim new stores that have opened since then. It appears Walgreens hasn’t as I have about 3 newly opened stores near me that don’t have the special.

    Might have to go take advantage of this deal as they have batteries on sale, and I need some badly.

      Interesting question. It might be something to do maybe quarterly or on some random interval? Hopefully at least.

      If not, you’d probably have to try to contact someone with the new venues and have them “claimed.”

    Hi everyone! Just to clarify, this deal IS available at all stores. We are not sure why it is not displaying at all the stores on Foursquare that we’ve claimed. Its our first time doing this, so we’re learning. Thanks!

    I had one hell of a time getting this discount yesterday… And I was at a location where there was a “special here”. Took 2 cashiers and then a manager… As if the Walgreens I go to isnt annoying enough… Except this time I looked like the person holding up the line… Youd think that a busy Walgreens in Chicago (birthplace of Walgreens) would have figured out how to handle this promotion before 545pm.
    Solid attempt, but huge chain promotions like this only work when all employees know that
    A. Foursquare even exists
    B. That their store is participating in a nationwide promotion
    & C. Not look at the customer like they are trying to pull a fast one by getting 20% of some toilet paper and skittles.
