TIME now tracking the movers and shakers of the political conventions via foursquare
As part of their partnership with foursquare, TIME has launched a new feature on their Republican National Convention site that tracks the politicians, speakers and reporters via foursquare as they travel around the city of Tampa. A similar one is planned for Charlotte.
The map is featured on the homepage of TIME’s site for the RNC. It shows the check-ins of presumptive nominee Mitt Romney, along with other political movers and shakers like NJ governor Chris Christie and Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn, a longtime supporter of foursquare. Check-ins from TIME’s foursquare account are shown, along with those of their journalists in Tampa. Tapping any of the check-ins on the map takes you to more details like photos and shout text.
A places tab on the map shows some of the places where TIME has left tips.
By highlighting this map in the most valuable spot of their convention homepage, TIME has shown their commitment to making foursquare a major part of their convention coverage for 2012. In addition to the maps, they’ve added foursquare check-ins to their Convention Floor Pass app and are offering Political Animal badges for the attendees of each convention. They’ve also created foursquare lists of the major venues of each convention and some spots to unwind during the downtime.
