The REAL Mayor of New York City proclaims April 16th as Foursquare Day
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg visited foursquare’s offices this morning to personally deliver a special gift. Today New York joins more than 15 cities around the world by officially proclaiming Foursquare Day on April 16.
According to the Village Voice (foursquare’s downstairs neighbors), Bloomberg arrived this morning with a large entourage that included New York City’s Chief Digital Officer, Rachel Sterne. His staffers were seen bringing in the official proclamation.
Foursquare Day will be celebrated worldwide on Saturday, April 16 (4/4^2 = four square(d) — a concept dreamed up by Tampa optometrist Nate Bonilla-Warford). The mayors of at least fifteen cities have proclaimed Foursquare Day, including Cincinnati, Altanta, Austin, Indianapolis, Miami and Tampa.
Meetup.com is maintaining the official list of all cities holding Foursquare Day parties. Find your city on the list and RSVP today. If your city isn’t hosting a party, it’s not too late to start your own. Many of the Foursquare Day parties were planned in less than 48 hours last year.
