The Huffington Post now offers tips on foursquare

Foursquare users can now follow the Huffington Post for tipsThe Huffington Post is the latest brand to embrace foursquare by offering recommendations for some of their favorite venues via foursquare tips. On their profile page they say:

Follow us on Foursquare to share your HuffPost badges and unlock new ones. We’ll be posting tips for venues in our local coverage areas, and sharing your recommendations with our readers.

Some of the tips include links to relevant stories on their site, like this one at NBC Universal:

“NBC Nightly News” anchor Brian Williams likes it so much here that he showed up for work on the 4th of July [LINK].

All the tips are currently for venues in Manhattan, but their local coverage areas also include Chicago, Denver and LA, so presumably tips will be added in those cities as well.

The Huffington Post is a liberal news and blog website founded by Arianna Huffington. They recently rolled out their own foursquare-style badges to reward active commenters and contributors on the Huffington Post site. It will be interesting to see if the badges they refer to on their profile page will be foursquare badges, Huffington Post badges or a combination of the two.
