Staples to donate $1 to the US Olympic Team for each foursquare check-in at their stores
Checking in to your local Staples store could help the US Olympic Team as they make their final preparations for the London Olympics next month. They’ll be donating $1 to the “Raise Our Flag” campaign for each foursquare check-in at their stores.
The Raise Our Flag campaign allows supporters to purchase “stitches” in the American flag that will accompany Team USA to London. Each stitch is $12, so when all is said and done on July 12, foursquare users will have helped Staples contribute 834 stitches. They donated an additional 417 stitches to kick off the event today.
The campaign coincides with the opening of a new Team USA store at the US Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA (it has a sister store in Colorado Springs, CO), where fans can purchase official Team USA gear. Check-ins at either of the Team USA stores will trigger the donation from Staples, as well.
Unlike athletes from other countries, US Olympians receive no funding from the federal government, so campaigns like this from corporate sponsors are essential to their success at the games.
