Foursquare to open office in San Francisco
UPDATE: Foursquare says they’re only renting desks from Square.
TechCrunch reports that foursquare will soon be opening an office in San Francisco, in addition to their new offices in New York. The space will be in the San Francisco Chronicle building in SoMa.
The office will be home to VP of Mobile and Partnerships Holger Luedorf and VP of Business Development Tristan Walker. TechCrunch says they’re looking to hire a few more people to work out of the office soon. Walker, at least, will be spending about 3/4 of his time in San Francisco; the rest will be spent at foursquare’s New York headquarters.
It’s not surprising that Luedorf will be based in San Francisco, where he’ll have better access to foursquare’s partners, like Facebook, located in Silicon Valley. Moving Walker farther away from the advertising agencies of New York, though, is a bit strange, although he has a pretty good track record of scoring deals from the west coast. He’s been based there for most of his time with foursquare while finishing his MBA at Stanford.
