So I guess that next step will be to allow your mobile device to recognize (via GPS or near field communication) that you’re in a partner store and check in / give you coupons before you actually check out at the cashier.
Well, one step at a time I suppose…

However, I’m not too sure what would be the benefit for CPG companies. I guess that more than giving away things for free most time the coupon would be a discount or a 3×2 kind of deal.

I unlocked my reward this last weekend. Bought some groceries, swiped my card and the little coupon machine spit out 3 rewards.

Got me some free Starbucks, Orange Juice, and Oatmeal. Pretty awesome how it is taylored to the places you check in the most.

no need to show the cashier anything, no need to threaten with calling corporate.

This weekend, I finally got a printable coupon for the free Izze my 4th check-in after linking my Club Card and 4sq account, the message said it was my first check-in.

But when you check in you are supposed to get free items (OJ last week, Pepsi Max), via the special offers. The manager’s have no idea about the 4sq offers and have tried to deny me twice even after showing them the special offer. I made them give me the free stuff, cause I said that I would call the corporate office.

I connected my 4SQ account and club card account and have swipped my card at two different times in a week’s span and nothing, no auto checkin and no coupon.

I checked and double checked if I did it right. somethin isn’t right..

No Vons in Colorado, but if Safeway does pick this up, I’ll give it a shot. I’m going to try connecting my Safeway card number to my Foursquare account at least to see if that will work.

did you connect your card number to your foursquare account? if so, then it should work … should but not guaranteed

We shop at Pavilions anyways so this is a no brainer.

I wonder if the automatic check-in works if you enter your phone number instead of swiping your card, I always carry and use the card but my wife just enters the number, I wonder if I will get a check-in when my wife enters our number.

We are Coke people so the Pepsi products don’t seem that great, but it looks like they are offering rewards aside from their core soft drink business so that might be of use.
