Pepsi celebrates summer fun with a foursquare badge
What better way to mark the biggest weekend of the summer than with a new foursquare badge? Pepsi is helping users celebrate summer with the Pepsi Summer Fun Badge.
Users who follow Pepsi and check in at summertime places like beaches, parks, baseball fields and more will unlock the badge. The unlock text reads:
Beach, BBQs, Parks and sun – what could be better? By unlocking this badge, you’re eligible to win awesome prizes. Now time to relax and unwind – it’s summertime!
We’ve reached out to Pepsi and hope to have more information about the “awesome prizes” next week.
Pepsi was one of the first brands to partner with foursquare when they donated money to Camp Interactive based on points accumulated on the New York leaderboard way back in December 2009. Since then they’ve offered a Starbucks Frapuccino badge, partnered for foursquare-based discounts at Vons grocery store, sponsored the SXSW foursquare court and Big Boi concert and more.

The badge itself is category-based. The venues where they’ve left tips are just for fun, not required to earn the badge.
Hopefully I can unlock it when I go back to the Field of Flight this afternoon. Had I followed Pepsi sooner, I probably would’ve unlocked it this morning watching the balloons fly over Bailey Park.

if you read the venue dialog on “Matters of Grey” it does state that all summer like categories apply (beaches, lakes, water parks, ball parks, etc)….. on the main badge listing page its not as specific…
Do you know how many check-ins this has to be?

What about Canada? I thought Toronto was one of the most checked into Citys on foursquare day and yet no brands ever seem to add anything to the list of places to check in. WEAK!

Was camping this weekend, saw this post come up. Added Pepsi to my follow list, went down to the beach (which I’m also mayor of) checked-in and got my badge. Score!

Are there specific parks that work with this? I checked into the Ox Bow County Park (part of Elkhart County Parks in Indiana) and I didn’t get the badge. Yes, I am following Pepsi. It was a park category venue! …
