One, Two, Three Strikes You’re Out for a new foursquare badge

20110617-063337.jpgI got a nice little surprise tonight as I was checking in to the Cincinnati Reds game: a brand spankin’ new foursquare badge. Triple Play honors foursquare users who check in three times at a major league baseball park.

The unlock text reads:

3 big-league stadium check-ins from 1 baseball fan who happens to have 2 thumbs? By our count, you’re only a 4-bagger short of the foursquare cycle! We tried putting the badge in the Cracker Jack box. Didn’t fit.

Like Vinyl, the Triple Play badge makes use of the badge’s circular shape to represent a baseball. Those are my favorite badge designs.

    Yea, I’ve been to 3 MLB parks, does this count minor league or college parks? And will my old visits count (PNC, Citi, Citizens Bank) when I check into one of them again?

    I’ll be very disappointed if this can only be unlocked at Major League Stadiums. There are hundreds of minor league parks all over the country. This shouldn’t be limited to 30 teams.

    Love it! Hope to get it at Citi Field on Sunday at the Mets game while visiting New York City.

    And minor league baseball isn’t real baseball. If my horrible D.C. suburb of Woodbridge, VA can have a team, that’s just a joke.

    Probably one of the most simple and obvious badge designs. Love it.

    If this counts any baseball stadium, I may actually be encouraged to check out our local minor league team. Sure would be driving 4+ hours to see the Phillies or Pirates or other MLB team.

    I wish minor league parks counted too! I live near an iconic minor league team that is fantastic.

    Minor league isn’t real? Ahh no, maybe independent league stuff but the minor leagues are contract managed pro farm teams.

    Love this badge! Do we know if it’s three different parks? Or will three check-ins at one park work? I hope three at one park will do. If so I’ll have that one for sure by this fall at Comerica Park. Go Tigers!!

    Is this one available outside the US? Does it have to be a ML-stadium or just any Baseballstadium?

    I just unlocked this badge at Nationals Park in DC. I’ve also been to Orioles Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore many times in the past, so it’s obviously retroactive!

    I’m very disappointed that this badge is NOT available in S.Korea and Japan which have enthusiastic baseball fans and great national pro-baseball league. Even Jumpers who have not their own league earned this one. What a disgrace for true baseball lovers.

      Now I can quit my crying and be happy w/ badges work in my country!

    I’m pretty sure it’s either not retroactive OR it has to be 3 different parks. I’ve been to Wrigley 6 times this season and it didn’t pop on Saturday. Haven’t checked into any other parks though that I can remember.

    Can anyone confirm if this is three ballgames or three different parks? Unlocked it today at Citi Field, and coincidentally my two previous ballpark checkins were all at different parks (Yankee Stadium & Fenway.) I’ve been to 15+ games this season, though, so I would have probably unlocked it soon no matter what!

    Okay, checked in at 3 local baseball fields. Conclusion: badge not available in Europe. Shame, being a fan and having 2 nephews playing for the Red Sox and the Mariners :-(

    if this is a core badge, then it should be available to all countries right? Can anyone confirm if it should be check-ins at any venue categorized as baseball field? Or it has to be a tagged as a stadium? Or a baseball park?

    I don’t think it’s a retroactive badge. Either that or it is three different parks. I’m a season ticket holder to a MLB team and didn’t get the badge when I went to a game this week.

    I’m not really sure how to get this badge… I went to all 3 Reds/Indians games this weekend, checked in to Great American Ballpark for each one, and no badge. Did you have to shout something special?

    I have been to about 13 Pirates games and have checked into PNC Park everytime and i have yet to receive this badge!!!!

    Is there something special i have to say or do to get this

    I’ve checked in to May 5th I checked in at Kauffman, May 11th at Target Field, and July 4th at Turner Field, no badge for me

    I earned the badge after checking into three different stadiums (Citi, Yankee, Fenway) so it seems that this is the criteria for earning the badge.

    From the comments here, I’m virtually positive it takes 3 distinct major-league ballparks. Since Triple Play was inaugurated, I’ve checked into Yankee Stadium four times and Citi Field once, and still no badge. I’d be willing to bet that it will unlock at the next non-NYC ballpark I check into.
