Olympic Ticket badge launches; renamed Olympic Live
The Olympic Ticket badge we wrote about last week has launched, right on schedule, but with a different name: Olympic Live. (UPDATE 8 pm: It’s back to Olympic Ticket now). The design is also different from the one we posted last week.
Foursquare users can unlock it by following the Olympics and checking in at any of the Live Sites that can be found all over the UK. Each one features large screens where you can keep up with the action from London.
Users who unlock the badge are eligible to enter to win tickets to Olympic events. The actual event awarded will be determined by the IOC based on ticket availability.
The unlock text reads:
You’ve just checked in at one of the many Olympic live sites! Enjoy watching the Games on the big screen, and for your chance to win tickets to the London 2012 Olympics, enter the sweepstakes at http://hub.olympic.org/olympicday2012
The design of the badge presents a bit of a mystery since it varies from the one released by the IOC’s PR team last week. This design matches up much better with the idea of winning tickets via a badge, which leads me to wonder if the other design could be a badge that will appear for checking in to actual Olympic events (and released accidentally). Of course it’s also possible they simply chose a different badge design since last Wednesday.
What do you think of the badge? Do you think we’ll see other Olympics related badges over the next few days?
