Olive Valley launches foursquare’s first photo contest
It’s been just a little over two weeks since foursquare added photo support to their website and apps, but one restaurant is already taking advantage of it to offer the first foursquare-based photo contest. Olive Valley, a Middle Eastern restaurant in Brooklyn, is asking users to take a photo of their meal and submit it via foursquare (presumably as a tip or venue photo). The best photo, as judged by the restaurant’s owner, will win dinner for two.
Olive Valley has been an early adopter of foursquare since it opened last year. On top of the photo contest they’re offering a free dessert with purchase of two pita sandwiches or a dinner plate when you check in on foursquare.
This is the first use we’ve seen of foursquare’s photo capabilities from a business. It’s a great way to build a collection of photos showing the restaurant’s food on their foursquare page. Users are just beginning to get into photos on foursquare, but seeing a bunch of pictures of tasty food can’t hurt when it comes time for them to choose a place to eat.

How do you add a venue photo via the website?
You can only do it from the iPhone and Android apps at this point.
I was curious…once I take a pic with my phone how do I upload to the venue?
To add it as a venue photo, you use the photo button at the bottom of the venue information screen. For tips and checkins, you add the tip or checkin as usual and click the photo button next to the text entry field. It’s only available for iPhone and Android at the moment. Blackberry and WebOS are coming soon.
A bit unrelated but is it me or Foursquare is moving a turtle speeds right now.
They are just not coming up with badges fast enough, game is getting boring at least for me! Well, the fact that I have a blackberry with an antiquated foursquare app that they refuse to update might have to do with some of it!
