NYC Restaurant Week: save $5 at more than 200 NYC restaurants with your American Express card and foursquare
New York City is home to the country’s original “Restaurant Week” promotion where diners are encouraged to try new eateries for a discounted price. The annual event (which is now much longer than a week — it runs through September 5) kicks off again today with an amazing foursquare promotion from event sponsor American Express.
Foursquare users with a linked American Express card can save $5 off the already discounted prices by using the “load to card” functionality. The offer is good for any purchase over $24 at participating restaurants (almost all of them are). With Restaurant Week lunches set at $24.07 and dinners at $35, it’s valid for any Restaurant Week purchase.
“We are thrilled to be able to bring the benefits of our partnership with foursquare to NYC Restaurant Week,†said Don Shannon, Vice President of Marketing and Client Development at American Express. “American Express is focused on delivering value to our cardmembers and merchants where they’re already engaging, and NYC Restaurant Week is an ideal time for them to take advantage of this unique functionality.â€
The restaurants are listed on New York’s official NYCGO site, where the participating restaurants are marked by a foursquare icon. You can make reservations at participating restaurants directly from the site thanks to OpenTable integration. The foursquare deal is featured prominently on the home page.
With more than 200 participating eateries, Restaurant Week is a huge event in New York City. A well-promoted $5 discount exclusive to foursquare users is a great way for foursquare to gain even more traction in the city. American Express picks up even more users for their sync program by highlighting it during such a big event. In the end, everyone wins.
What do you think of the deals?
