New foursquare bonus points highlight your habits — good or bad
One thing foursquare is really good at is taking all the data we give it in the form of checkins and “recycling” it back to us in useful ways. The latest feature to do that comes in the form of foursquare bonus points that highlight our habits — both good and bad.
Users are seeing today a new kind of bonus points highlighted by a fire icon. They honor streaks you keep within the app, three days in a row at Starbucks, for instance or six weeks in a row at airports.
On his blog, foursquare co-founder Dennis Crowley calls them a “badge of honor / badge of shame” and says they’re “something I’m proud we were able to hack together.” He previously teased the icon in a post a few weeks ago.
“I’m quite liking it,” said user Brad Bitzer on Twitter (he also provided the screenshots). “It’s making me way more aware of my habits.”
What do you think of the new points? Are you more likely to pay attention to your points when you see something like this?
