Mobile World Congress attendees receive a Foursquare badge
The GMSA Mobile World Congress kicks off this week in Barcelona. It’s the world’s largest gathering of mobile phone operators and manufacturers, so it makes a perfect venue for Foursquare to forge partnerships like the one that landed them on all new BlackBerry 10 phones worldwide. To that end, Foursquare is town with a full cadre of business development executives and CEO Dennis Crowley.
What better way is there to show off Foursquare’s capability to generate data through gamification than offering attendees a Foursquare badge when they check in?
To unlock the badge, Foursquare users should follow the GSMA and check in to the event. Once they do, they’ll be entered in a drawing for free admission to the 2014 event. The unlock text reads:
Congrats on getting connected at GSMA Mobile World Congress 2013 – welcome to the new mobile horizon! You’re now in the draw for a pass to MWC14 (check your email for terms & conditions at http://bit.ly/URq4Nn).
This is the second year the GSMA has offered a badge for the Mobile World Congress. In 2011 Telefonica and Blackberry both offered badges at the event.
Barcelona also has a city badge, Ciutat Comtal, that users can earn while exploring the city.
What do you think of this year’s badge?
