MisoTrendy helps you find the most popular venues

MisoTrendy is a new site designed to help you find the venues that are trending right now. You can use it to search for popular venues anywhere in the world.

To use MisoTrendy, you’ll need to log in to your foursquare account. If you’ve ever used CheckinMania, the interface will be familiar since it’s from the same developers. You simply drag and drop the man icon wherever you’d like to search. MisoTrendy lists the most popular nearby venues and shows them on a map using their foursquare category icons.

Clicking a venue in the list will show stats like the total number of checkins and the number of people currently checked in. Below that is a list of everyone currently checked in along with their profile picture and how recently they arrived. Names are pink or blue to denote the user’s gender. The mayor and any tips attached to the venue are below the list of people there.

You can also search by keyword to find a specific kind of venue, like coffee shops or pizza places. MisoTrendy only shows them on the list if there are people currently checked in.

MisoTrendy also offers a mobile version that works just like the desktop version. Dragging the icon to search is surprisingly easy for a mobile site.

I noticed a few quirks with the site. Occasionally a venue would show up at the outer fringes of the radius, but didn’t show up when dropping the icon directly on top of it. The venue would show up again after dragging the icon a block or two away. Hopefully these issues will be cleared up soon.

Overall, MisoTrendy looks like it will be a nice way to find the most popular venues nearby. Give it a try and let us know what you think in the comments.
