Mercedes-Benz offers $1,000 off a car for checking in at the NY Auto Show

The New York Auto Show opens at the Jacob Javits Convention Center tomorrow, and Mercedes-Benz is offering a killer deal for foursquare users. You can get a $1,000 discount voucher for a new car purchase by checking in at the Mercedes-Benz booth and showing the checkin to a Mercedes-Benz product specialist.

“We are not nibbling around and watching Ford, Lexus, and GM try these things,” said Steve Cannon, Mercedes-Benz US VP of Marketing in an interview with ClickZ. “I believe you’ve got to dive in.”

This is Mercedes-Benz’s first foray into marketing with foursquare, but they’ve recently expanded the social media marketing efforts and hope to integrate foursquare, Twitter, Facebook and other forms of social media into their existing platforms like Fashion Week and US Open of Tennis. You can follow their tips on foursquare.

What do you think of this deal from Mercedes-Benz? Would a $1,000 discount entice you to buy their cars over a competitor?

I was thinking the same thing. You can’t take any $ off discount from a car manufacturer at face value. And when you get one, let’s go for a ride :)
