Celebrate Oktoberfest with Lufthansa and a unique foursquare badge
If you’re heading to the legendary Oktoberfest in Munich, Lufthansa and foursquare have a special reward in store for you. Users who follow Lufthansa’s foursquare profile and check in to three Lufthansa-approved venues at Oktoberfest will receive the Oktoberfest badge.
Unlocking the badge entitles you to a €20 flight voucher good for a future Lufthansa flight. A redemption code will be emailed to you after unlocking the badge.
Lufthansa has also added tips to many of the Oktoberfest venues, like this one at Augustiner Zelt:
In the Augustiner Brewery the Oktoberfest beer is drawn from wooden barrels. The beer garden is really eye catching and very popular with the locals. The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly.
This year marks the 177th year for Oktoberfest in Munich. With roughly 6 million visitors every year, it’s the largest fair in the world. This year’s event starts Saturday and runs through October 4.
This is the first badge that’s exclusive to Germany, and one of only three available only outside the US and Canada. It’s a great way to recognize a major event like Oktoberfest. The discount from Lufthansa is just icing on the cake. We’ll likely see many more of these sponsored badges that are tied to specific events in the coming months as foursquare gains more mainstream acceptance and sponsors jump on the bandwagon.

Dandy of a badge; shame I wont have an opportunity to get it.
I love non-American badges
thats a sweet badge. i want one. anyone have a free flight to munich? hofbrauhaus!
Even though I’m in America and I can’t get this badge, I think it’s FANTASTIC that they’re finally making over seas badges
um …
Canada has had 4, Translink, one from the NYT for the Olympics, 2 from Metro newspaper plus Louis Vuitton and don’t foget the World Cup South Africa badge … so this makes 7 international badges
You’re correct! I meant to say “US and Canada” and got a little ahead of myself. I’ve corrected the post.
I’m def getting this badge come next week!!!
This year is also a big deal because it’s the 200th anniversary of Oktoberfest, not 177.
What about Mt Angel Oktoberfest in Oregon? http://www.oktoberfest.org/
Just saying there’s one stateside too.
Yeah! We Germans are really happy to have our first badge!! Hard to get though! Not flying down to Munich… all the hotels are fully booked, and I dont wanna stay in the Sharaton

I got so excited about this for a moment, because I ALWAYS celebrate Oktoberfest in what claims to be the biggest celebration of it outside of Germany… but alas, this badge doesn’t apply to the Kitchener/Waterloo celebration here in Ontario.
Unless, of course, there is someone at foursquare who might want to set up something for the venues in this list of official KW Oktoberfest venues: http://www.oktoberfest.ca/festhallen.php … because it would be so awesome to at least be able to earn the badge, if not the extra bonus…
Please please please?
Very cool badge. Good to see some non-US badges emerging as it will encourage some travelling from our US cousins. I love Oktoberfest and singing Alice …. who the f8%k is Alice! to an OOmpah Band is quite hilarious. Guess I will be going to Munich soon
I love this munich badge! Thanks for the tipps!
