Las Vegas’ Cosmopolitan launches foursquare badge for VIPs
Las Vegas’ posh Cosmopolitan resort is the first resort to offer its own exclusive badge on foursquare, Cosmopolitan VIP.
Visitors to the resort can unlock the badge by following them on foursquare and checking in at venues around the resort. The unlock text reads:
Congratulations! You unlocked the Cosmopolitan VIP badge. Clearly, you enjoy just the right amount of wrong. Show off your status with VIP entry at Wicked Spoon just by flashing this badge. And stop by Identity to hear about other exclusive offers.
The badge gives its holders exclusive VIP access to the Wicked Spoon Buffet, one of the nicest in Vegas. It has a mac and cheese bar where a chef creates a special dish just to your specifications. Other offers are available via Identity, the resort’s loyalty program.
This is an unusual badge for foursquare, being that it’s tied to a single resort in a single city. It could be one of the only fully paid badges foursquare has created. I guess if anyone can afford their asking price, it would be a Vegas casino.
What do you think of the new badge?
UPDATE: Sister casino Monte Carlo has launched a similar badge and VIP experience for badgeholders. The unlock text reads:
Congratulations on unlocking the Monte Carlo VIP Badge! Show the shiny new badge to your server at The Pub to enjoy a custom-built VIP experience from your friends at Monte Carlo.

Better get to work on my to-do list! I want to knock this one out while we’re there in April!
Hmm, was there two weeks ago, lucky I am going back up tomorrow.
But i am not sure how I feel about friending a corporation on foursquare.. I’ll have to think about it, or friend them for the weekend!
Following brands on foursquare isn’t at all like friending them. They show up in your news feed, but they get no information about you, except your name/photo/twitter handle that are displayed on your public profile.
Was expecting a high rollers VIP badge – drop $XXXXX and we give you a badge. Unlocks after 3x.
Just a FYI Monte Carlo is not a sister property of the Cosmo. Monte Carlo is a property of MGM Resorts Cosmo is independant.

I was just there on Thursday night and ate at the Wicked Spoon buffet (very good but pricey) but since I was on vacation I didn’t know about this one yet.
Was at Cosmo this weekend. Checked-in, followed, etc. No Badge. Identity Desk had no idea what I was talking about
