Lanyrd integrates with foursquare’s connected apps to keep you informed about the conferences you attend
Lanyrd, a social directory of conferences happening around the world, has launched a connected app on the foursquare platform that helps to keep users informed about the conferences they check in to.
Users who connect their foursquare accounts to Lanyrd will receive a notification after they check in to a venue where a conference is taking place. It includes a link to more information about the event from Lanyrd’s comprehensive database of conferences. Many of them include information about the scheduled sessions, speakers and other attendees who’ve said they’re going.
Additionally, users with a Lanyrd account will see a smart comment added to their check-ins that names the conference they’re attending. This only appears if they’ve previously marked the conference as “attending” from the Lanyrd site or from the more information screen that’s linked to from within foursquare. If they’re listed as a speaker of the event, the comment will be altered to reflect that.
Lanyrd has put together a detailed account of the steps they took to integrate with foursquare that should prove helpful to developers going down a similar path.
This is a smart integration on the part of Lanyrd that should put their information in front of more users when it’s relevant to them.
What do you think of the integration?
