Just in time for Black Friday, foursquare launches a Mall Rat badge

Just in time for the holiday shopping season, the Gym Rat badge has a companion for those of us who aren’t quite as active. Today foursquare released the Mall Rat badge as an expertise badge for checking in at malls.

The unlock text reads:

Sharper Image. Gap. That guy selling bedazzled iPhone cases from a kiosk. It’s always nice to see some familiar faces. Now, weave your way through that pack of toddlers on leashes, grab an Orange Julius, and enjoy the fountain’s soothing gurgles.

The design features the same colors and rat featured on the Gym Rat badge (one of the original 16 core badges), but instead of the dumbells, he’s carrying a shopping bag and a drink.

I especially love the custom tweet text for this badge:

Just like all expertise badges, you’ll be able to unlock Level 1 of this badge by checking in at the same mall five times or at three different ones. Level 2 unlocks after five different venues and each subsequent level takes another five to unlock.
