Hit the campaign trail for three new badges from NBC Politics
With the last real contender for the Republican Presidential nomination out of the way, the real campaign for President can begin. NBC Politics has partnered with foursquare to offer political junkies a set of three badges for checking in to locations along the campaign trail.
To unlock the badges, you’ll need to follow NBC Politics on foursquare and check in at significant locations from the 2012 campaign as listed on their page. The badges “level up,” with each check-in at a political site unlocking the next badge. In order, the badges are:
Badge | Name | Unlock Text |
|---|---|---|
![]() | Political Wonk 1 Check-in | Congrats on earning Political Wonk status! With the presidential election in full swing, your friends are lucky to have your political smarts handy. Keep getting your wonk on at NBCPolitics.com. |
![]() | Campaign Advisor 2 Check-ins | With 2 locations from the 2012 trail, you've just been promoted to Campaign Advisor. Now get started on strategizing that path to victory. Up first, inspiring rally speech. The crowd will love you! |
![]() | Chief of Staff 3 Check-ins | Wow, you've been to 3 locations from the 2012 presidential race! Looks like we've found a political trailblazer ready to take on the Beltway. Now go make us proud and save us a seat at your induction. |
Many of the locations are out-of-the-way spots that a lot of people wouldn’t check in unless they were intentionally aiming for the badges. Some places, like the Hyatt Place in North Charleston, SC have only had a few hundred check-ins. That should make these badges — especially the Chief of Staff badge — a fun-to-earn challenge.
The badges follow NBC’s partnership with foursquare to map campaign check-ins on their site. With the exception of Newt Gingrich, most of the candidates have stopped checking in, but NBC’s embedded reporters are still checking in and sharing interesting bits of information from the campaign trail.
What do you think of the three new badges?
