Friend Barbie on foursquare for clues to find your very own Barbie VideoGirl doll

Foursquare users who friend Barbie will have a chance to hunt down their very own Barbie VideoGirl

Have you ever wondered what life looks like from the perspective of a Barbie doll? No? Me either. But now there’s a new Barbie on the block and she has a video camera built into her necklace so you can see everything she sees. You’ve got a chance to find one of your very own by following Barbie on foursquare.

Next week Barbie will be making appearances in San Francisco (Tuesday), Los Angeles (Wednesday), Chicago (Thursday) and New York (Friday). She’ll be posting clues to locations where you can find her “street team” on Foursquare and Twitter. The first person to arrive at the location wins a Barbie VideoGirl doll.

The campaign is very similar to Jimmy Choo’s Catch-a-Choo campaign that encouraged users to hunt down Jimmy Choo’s new trainers at high-end locations across London in April.

    I love ideas like this!!

Bit old for Barbie the the idea of running around locations sounds so much fun!

I’m hoping more UK things like this will happen as Foursquare expands, it’s still so small in the UK but I’m sure it’s going to grow fast so we can get in on some action!

This idea is great, definite inspiration of Jimmy Choo’s campaign… however… my first thoughts when seeing Barbie was… wtf? Is 8-10 year olds really a demographic of Foursquare? I can picture them begging their annoyed mom and dad to drive them around town to find their Barbies. I think they were excited to jump on the Foursquare train but didn’t look to who they were riding with.

I though exactly the same thing. They’ll have to drag mom and dad along, though. You have to be 18 to actually win one.
