Foursquare’s new credit card specials are now live; here’s how to start saving money
Foursquare’s new credit card offers for Visa and Mastercard users are now live. If you’ve been waiting to eat lunch so you can redeem the Burger King offer, now’s your chance!
You can add credit cards to your account either on the web (Connected Cards Settings) or through the app (Me > My Settings > Connected Cards and Savings (iPhone) or Drawer > Settings > Connected Cards and Savings (Android)). Like the American Express specials, you’ll receive a notification once your transaction is processed or you can track the specials you’ve redeemed from the settings pages.
Debit cards are eligible for the program as long as they have the Visa or Mastercard logo, but they must be processed as credit transactions, not PIN transactions.
Foursquare’s credit card processing partner, First Data, monitors credit card transactions and automatically credits the offer value to your account when a qualifying transaction is detected. While these offers apply to Visa and Mastercard cardholders, the deal is with First Data and their OfferWise platform, not either of the major credit card companies. Presumably the offers are being sold to merchants by Foursquare’s growing sales staff.
American Express is still offering their own separate offers that require syncing your American Express card on their site (if you try to link an American Express card using the new method, Foursquare detects it and automatically sends you to the right place). You’ll be able to spot those deals — like the new $5 off a $20 purchase at AMC Theaters offer — by the “Powered by American Express” logo.
