Foursquare zaps houses from search results
Most privacy experts recommend that you avoid checking in to your house on foursquare, but that hasn’t stopped plenty of foursquare users from adding their home as a venue. As the number of homes in the database grew, it began to clog up the results when you searched for nearby venues from the foursquare app. For the past few weeks, foursquare has cleaned up the search results by filtering out venues in the “home” category.”
Now, when you pull up the nearby venues list, you should only see homes that you’ve previously checked in to or are very close to. In order to find other homes, you’ll need to search for them by name.
This is a nice change that should remove a lot of unnecessary clutter for most foursquare users. It could result in a few duplicated venues when users don’t see a place they expect to see, but as long as they’re categorized as homes, it shouldn’t cause too much damage for the majority of users. What do you think of the change?
