Foursquare website makes special rules easier to understand
Foursquare today updated their website to include much more information about the specials that are available at participating businesses. The specials are now identified by the type of special, such as mayor special, loyalty special or checkin special and the rules are clearly spelled out below the unlock text.
This is a great move to prevent confusion from foursquare users when the unlock rules weren’t clearly spelled out in the unlock text. The mayor special at right, for instance, has always been a mayor special, but was never clearly spelled out on the website. I actually visited the business thinking it was a checkin special, only to be disappointed when I opened the app and found it was a mayor special.
In addition to changing the special displays, they’ve now moved the link to the superuser editing page to the bottom of the column, making it slightly less convenient to access for users trying to edit the venue. With specials, photos, staff, etc. it can even be pushed “below the fold” requiring a user to scroll to find it.
What do you think of the changes to the specials display?
