Foursquare launches a Facebook Timeline app

The foursquare check-ins you push to Facebook will now have a much better look when they appear on your timeline thanks to a new timeline app from foursquare. Everyone should be upgraded to the new version automatically.

If you have timeline enabled, you’ll see a new foursquare box when you push a check-in to Facebook that appears right in your timeline. It shows your number of recent check-ins, the top places you’ve visited and the places you’ve visited recently. Only the places you’ve actually pushed to Facebook will appear here.

Your friends will also see a better looking check-in in their news feeds. It includes a map (yes, an actual map — not the clip-art version) that can be expanded to show more information. It also includes a link to the actual foursquare venue and check-in.

Unfortunately the check-ins you push to Facebook still don’t update your actual Facebook map that appears at the top of your profile. It still shows only check-ins made through Facebook.

Overall, this is a nice update from foursquare. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but it does help to better highlight your recent activity on the service. The new, more interactive look could also help convince your friends to join foursquare, too.
