Foursquare launches new support site
Foursquare has launched a new support site at support.foursquare.com. The new site features a Knowledge Base with answers to more than 300 commonly asked questions about foursquare, their mobile apps and business support. Users are also able to open tickets to report problems or request help from the Foursquare team if they don’t find what they’re looking for in the knowledge base.
The Knowledge Base is broken up into 10 sections: User FAQ; Account Help; Known Issues; Checking In; Foursquare for Business; Venue Help; iPhone FAQ; Blackberry FAQ; Android FAQ; and Friends. The business section accounts for most of the answers, with more than 150 posts so far on specials, claiming businesses, etc. It’s all fully searchable, so users can find what they’re looking for quickly.
The topics covered range from I’m standing in a venue; how can I be “a little too far away?” to Where can I check in on foursquare? and Why has my venue claim not been processed?. Users can vote up any topic if they find it helpful; the most popular topics appear at the top of the page.
The new support site offers a more official and monitored presence than foursquare was able to provide on their GetSatisfaction site. With no option to create FAQs or sticky topics and a limited search capability, that board becomes cluttered with the same questions asked over and over again. In fact, that’s the reason this site came into existence in the first place — to provide a place to answer the questions superusers were fielding every day.
The site is powered by ZenDesk, which also powers the support site for Twitter.
What do you think of the new support site?

I think Zendesk makes it easier to squelch public debate of bad answers than Get Satisfaction does.
