Foursquare iPhone app updated to version 1.8

You can now search for friends directly from the Foursquare iPhone appVersion 1.8 of the Foursquare iPhone app is now available for download in the app store (app store link). This version adds:

  • The ability to find and request friends directly from the app
  • Duplicate venue reporting (from any venue screen click the “forward” icon; screenshot)
  • The list of mayorships for any user is now visible

You can find friends using the same methods you can on the main website, including Facebook, Twitter, name and phone number. In addition, the app can scan your phone’s address book for friends and invite contacts in your address book to join Foursquare.

    Presumably, these duplicate reports are going into the same Zendesk queue as closed venue and wrong address reports. That means they could take a long time to get resolved.
