Foursquare further tweaks “Places” to make it easier to find the venue you’re really looking for
On the heels of bringing back the “Trending Now” feature, Foursquare has announced they’ve tweaked their “Places” screen to make it easier to find the venue you’re really looking for. With thousands of homes, flights, individual stadium seats and duplicate venues cluttering the results, browsing the places screen can be a daunting task when you’re trying to find a venue. By filtering out things like individual homes and apartments, these tweaks should make that task a little easier.
Another interesting feature they’ve added uses an algorigthm to determine the venues you’re more likely to be checking into based on the time of day and the category of the venue. For instance, a coffee shop might be more likely to show up first thing in the morning, while a bar might be more likely to show up late at night.
These tweaks will please users who’ve been clamoring for improvements to the search feature as Foursquare’s user base — and venue list — has grown.
