On top of the Android update earlier today, foursquare has released a new version of their iPhone app, v4.0.3. It brings the usual “stability improvements” and another, more mysterious change: “support for new Specials types.”

Apparently foursquare will be releasing some new kinds of specials in time for the holiday season, although we don’t know yet what they are. We’ve reached out to foursquare for more information and will let you know when we learn more.

You can update your app as normal or download it from the iTunes app store.
