In addition to the Explore updates for Android today, foursquare snuck in one additional feature that Android-o-philes are very excited about: Android Beam support.
With Beam, you can send the venue page to another user’s phone to make it easier for them to find the proper venue to check in (given the Android app’s recent GPS woes on some devices, this might be easier said than done). It also works on the “me” page, allowing users to send their profile to a new acquaintance for a quick friend request. On the list page, users could beam a list to another user for them to follow.
Like Radar on iOS devices, Beam is at the cutting edge of the technology. To work, both phones must be on Ice Cream Sandwich and contain an NFC chip, which currently limits it to Galaxy Nexus phones.
The updated Android app also includes smoother scrolling throughout the app.
