Foursquare extends friend tagging to Facebook
Since the release of foursquare 5.0 in June, users have been able to tag their friends, with those mentions carrying over to Twitter. Now that Facebook has opened up Mention Tagging in the Open Graph, those tags carry over to Facebook as well.
Mentioning someone doesn’t check them in, but their name will show up linked in the text of your update, just as if you’d created it from the Facebook site. It’s a handy way to bring a check-in to someone’s attention or mention that you’re with them.
To mention someone on foursquare, start typing their name in the shout box. Matching names will appear at the bottom of the box. Simply tap one to add it as a mention. Note that you must be friends with someone on foursquare in order to tag them.
What do you think of the change? Will you be more likely to mention friends?
