UPDATE (2/1/10): This list is no longer being actively maintained. Brands are being added faster than I can keep up. For the most current list, please visit our friends at foursquarebrands.com.
A number of brands are offering tips to users on foursquare, but unless they’re one of the big brands featured at the bottom of foursquare’s site, their profiles can be difficult to find. To make it easier, we’ve compiled a list of all the brands you can “follow” on foursquare.
If you follow a brand, you’ll receive pop up tips each time you check in at or near a venue where the brand has left tips. Their most recent tips are listed on their profile page; from there, you can add their tips to your to-do list for future reference.
We’ll try to keep this list updated as we learn of more brands coming on board. If you know of any we’ve missed, please let us know in the comments.

Changelog
- 12/10/10: Added San Diego’s Bowl Games
- 11/16/10: Added University of Louisville; MoMA; HighSnobiety; SUNY Oswego; University of Alberta; Boutiqued; Teen Vogue; Volcom Entertainment; Südwest Presse; Sony Ericsson; Jamba Juice; La Biennale di Venezia; University of Lincoln; Nashville Predators; Catraca Livre; 86 Project; RadioShack; Liberty University; Missouri State University. Updated: Bing; Dora; Expendables; Flavorpill; How to Make it in America; IFC; Time Out Chicago; Time Out NY; Valentine’s Day Movie; Havaianas; DonQ Rum; Cornell University. Foursquare now requires that all branded profiles have an associated Twitter account to avoid conflict with the vanity URLs users now receive. These brands either changed vanity URLs to comply or lost them altogether when foursquare made the switch. Thanks to @iagomega for the corrections.
- 11/5/10: Added Hershey Harrisburg; HUGO BOSS; Oakland Cemetery; Florida State
- 11/2/10: Added Philadelphia Magazine; Queensland; Racked; Rentonista; Rice University; Robert Morris University; Sailing Spoken Here; Screenscape; Skymall; Slacker Radio; Sony Ericsson Tennis; Soul Train; Style.com; Tallahassee Democrat; Team CoCo; Telegraph; Daily Show; Colbert Report; Magnificent Mile; Journal News/LoHud.com; The Source; The Tennesseean; Theory; Time Out Melbourne; Times Colonist; Touchdown Rundown; Travel OK; University of Southern California; Utrechts Uitburo; University of Wisconsin; Virginia Commonwealth University; Visit Brasil; Visit Tuscany; VoiceStreet; Walgreens; Washington Redskins; Windows Live Photo Gallery; Bloomingdale’s; Boston University; Buzzfeed; Cal; Clube do Assinante O Globo; Colorado; Colorado College; Cornell College; Crunch Gym; Downtown Boulder; Eater; Ecomagination; EDP24; eHow; Ellen Degeneres; ExtraTV; Fashism; Finger Lakes Wine Country; FMX; Four Points by Sheraton; Frommer’s; FYE; Gourmet Live; GQ; Graphic.ly; H&M; Hilton Grand Vacations; IHRA; inStyle; Intel WiMAX; Jeep; Jones Magazine; KLM Surprise; Laurentian University; Livestrong; LogoTV; Lord & Taylor; Loyola; Lufthansa; Lululemon Athletica; Madewell; Metro.co.uk; METROrail; Michelin Guides; Minnesota Wild; Monster Energy Supercross; NASA; National Post; NCAA; NHL; NJ.com; Northeastern University; Northern Illinois University; NOWNESS; University of Oregon; Original Penguin; Oscar de la Renta; University of Oklahoma; Pace University; Pee-wee Herman; People Magazine; BBC Radio 1; Blogher; Aloft Hotels; Arenacross; Algonquin Hotel; Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam

Hi all,
In clothing category, there should be actually 2 links for Havaianas as US (the one you put) is doing one, and as Havaianas Europe is running a very different concept via http://foursquare.com/user/havaianaseurope
You’ll be then able to discover places all over Europe and get free advantages on the online store!
Cheers,
Lucy.

This is only the brands that have official foursquare brand profiles that can be followed, not “friended.”
#3 by Craig on July 7, 2010 - 11:44 am
Awesome list! Thanks sooooo much!
#4 by Brittany on July 7, 2010 - 12:51 pm
Hey,
Great post! Do you know how a company can get a “brand” account instead of just a “user” account? Is this something you have to pay for? I work for a worldwide travel company and we are very interested in building our brand via foursquare.
Thanks!
Brittany
#5 by Chris Thompson on July 7, 2010 - 12:56 pm
No, you’ll need to contact foursquare for that. My understanding is that some have been free while others have been paid.
#6 by Ana on July 7, 2010 - 1:28 pm
I’ve tried contacting Foursquare about that and after a month, no answers.
#7 by twj on July 8, 2010 - 3:26 pm
I haven’t checked into venues in about a month that are brand sponsored (TLC, History Channel to name a few) from my Droid. Do venue tips pop up for the Android version of the foursquare app? I’ve never noticed them.
#8 by Joe on July 8, 2010 - 6:26 pm
Your link to LA Phil goes to the following link, NWF.

Good catch. It’s fixed now.

Howdy. Nice, helpful list. Under Other — or in a new Beverage category — you should add http://foursquare.com/user/redbull … fast approaching 2k Friends.

Heads up, Chris! I’ve finally convinced University of Southern California to start the process of claiming their venues. I’m working on helping them to get branded now. I made sure to forward them a link to your article regarding foursquare for colleges and universities. Any other tips?
#19 by Chris Thompson on August 31, 2010 - 9:37 pm
Thanks for the heads up!

any update?
#21 by Natasha on September 28, 2010 - 5:53 pm
Another one: http://foursquare.com/graphicly
And they mention badges
PS: Does anyone else have a problem with How to Make it in America referencing inactive badges on their brand page? Strikes me as a bit of false advertising or a bait-and-switch
Cheers

About Foursquare has done a fantastic job of creating this list and this helped us in creating a list to start with. Now we have the most up to date list of brands at http://foursquarebrands.com and you can Follow and UnFollow brands with 1-click!
AboutFoursquare just wrote an article about our tool here:

I am just wondering if there are restrictions on people under 21 following alcohol brands- does anyone know anything about this?
#46 by Chris Thompson on February 16, 2011 - 1:54 pm
No, there aren’t any restrictions at this time. My understanding is that they’ve stopped adding brand pages for alcohol-related pages (and even accidentally took down a branded page for a wine region destination organization briefly).
#47 by Ryan on February 16, 2011 - 2:28 pm
So, alcoholic brands aren’t allowed to have a brand page?
#48 by Ryan on February 16, 2011 - 2:42 pm
What about the Heineken Netherlands brand page?
#49 by Chris Thompson on February 16, 2011 - 5:01 pm
To my knowledge, Heineken Netherlands doesn’t have a brand page. Their program is run entirely from their website, I believe.

We have a brand page to on Foursquare but we can’t do anything with it. I’m running a small recordlabel and i want to encourage our customers to check-in at the place where they or the dj is playing one of our releases… so… no venue to pin and there is no support what so ever to realize such campaigns. Not sure, but.. they’re missing a lot of possibilities to get some funding! So… we have a brand page but… we’ll that’s pretty much it.
