Foursquare adds contextual venue pages to its Android app
Foursquare today released an update for their Android app that adds contextual venue pages, meaning they change to show you the information you need right now instead of just showing the same thing all the time. They also feature photos even more heavily than before.
If you’re browsing through venues found via Explore, you’ll find the basic information like ratings, phone number and a map standing out at the top of the venue screen. Once you’ve checked in, your focus changes to showing the most popular tips and who else is checked in. It also gives you easier access to rating the venue and leaving your own tips.
The same screen, in essence, serves two different purposes depending on what you’re currently doing. It’s a very smart move on Foursquare’s part to show you the most important information for you right now.
Both views of the venue page offer huge photos at the top of the screen, making it easy to swipe through them and judge the place based on the pictures you see.
The update is available today in the Google Play store. It’s slated to hit iOS soon.
What do you think of the change?
