Foursquare 5.1 drops for iOS

Foursquare just pushed out version 5.1 of their iOS app. Despite the jump in version numbers, you won’t find any new features in this update. It’s simply a bug fix release that nails a few of the nastier bugs that crept into the 5.0 release.

One that’s been fixed is the bug that prevented you from swiping between photos on the venue page or user profile pages. You no longer have to go back and select each one to see it.

Foursquare has promised that a future version will include the nearby vs. worldwide filters that were removed in version 5.0. That change does not appear in this update.

    So I installed the update.. and now I cant even log in on my phone. I thought it was weird that I even had to log back in to begin with.. Is anybody having this issue?

    Nope, it’s a global thing. I can’t checkin or access the website at all, just like yesterday. I swear, Foursquare must use the sorriest hosting service in the world. I hope this isn’t going to be a “regular thing” where some minor updates crash the system every time. As is, of nearly 40 friends on Foursquare, it’s just me and about 5 others actively using it anymore. The Facebook-esque changes drove almost everyone away and the constant downtime will drive off everyone else.

    I hope that they have returned the “Check in here anyway” option as it was great for checking into locations such as home that you don’t want on the database.

    Curious about login problem/solution, myself. Can get on via the web, but not on my phone. Deleted the app, and am downloading again now. Hoping that does the trick.

      Hmmm, I haven’t seen a log-in problem. Foursquare has had some Amazon-induced downtime today. Perhaps try again in a bit?

    New version is horrible, its obnoxious to look at the home screen, you can see way to much of past check ins which is creepy/stalker. And you can’t add or check in anyways. It’s dumb
