Footfeed 2.0 includes nearby specials and tips
Multi-service checkin app Footfeed has just launched v2.0, a complete rewrite of the program. It now includes new services and features for searching nearby specials and tips/to-dos, along with a number of interface enhancements.
With the addition of Google Latitude, Footfeed allows you to check in to all your location-based social networks at once. Foursquare, Gowalla, Facebook (but not Facebook Places), Twitter and Whrrl were included in previous versions. Footfeed matches location names across all the different services to make the checkin as seamless as possible.
In the new version you can search just for nearby specials, including ones from foursquare, Pepsi Loot and Geotoko. It’s an incredibly useful feature if you’re looking to save money. Mine currently shows 17 deals within 12 miles. There is also a display that shows nearby tips and to-dos.
Version 2.0 includes some enhancements to the checkin dashboard that make it easier to use. It also now lets you search by name for nearby locations and manually refresh the list, features sorely lacking from previous versions.
If you use multiple location-based networks, Footfeed is a great way to save some time by checking in to all of them at once. What do you think of the new features?

I started using SCVNGR for a while after I started using Foursquare… but kind of gave up b/c that one always seemed to be a bit more “work” than just checking into 4sq. Like there were multiple ways to earn points for checking in and doing things – which was kind of cool – but there didn’t seem to be anything to do with those points. No “rewards” at all.
I used Yelp check-ins as well as Foursquare. Yelp just seemed like a natural extension of the reviews I already wrote on the service. Plus, it’s a slightly different gaming mechanism (I like the “regular” feature). I have a Gowalla account but that, like ack154 brings up, is another service that seems really time consuming.
Thanks for writing this article about Footfeed. We worked hard on this new release and think we nailed it. We have a lot more that we are adding to app – both features and content – and are on track to release our Android app at the end of the month. We also are building for Symbian as well, for our friends in Europe and Asia.
Hope you all enjoy it. As a self proclaimed checkin’aholic, I admittedly like using a lot of networks, including Whrrl. That’s why we built Footfeed in the first place. To make it easy to check-in to many networks at the same time. Using individual apps is just simply too time consuming.
I would encourage everyone to download Footfeed and give it a spin. At a minimum you can find check-in deals nearby (or search for them) and score some freebies from local business.

Dennis,
I just tried out your app. And I think it’s great! I truly hope that you will develop the app with the same features as Foursquare so that anxious social media people (including me) doesn’t miss a thing.
I was using Check.in for the same thing, but on my iPhone it was unreliable. It’s made by the BrightKite team, and it has a lot going for it, but after using Footfeed, I won’t be going back to Check.In. The one thing I wish Footfeed was better at is the place matching. I see some problems matching the foursquare location with the Gowalla location, but I love the ability to share with Twitter and Facebook per check in.
Here’s hoping they keep innovating, and adding other services like Yelp, Whirl, and any new ones that come along. Great job Footfeed. Good luck.
I’ve downloaded footfeed but i cannot make it to connect with 4sq. Already linked it with Gowalla, Facebook and Twitter but when I try with 4sq an error message appears saying there’s a bad response in the server.
This has been going on for a week now.
I also downloaded footfeed and I am having issues connecting to 4sq. I’m getting the same error message as Enrique and I’m not quite sure what it’s about. This has been going on for a few days… Any ideas out there?
