Explore Baltimore with the Great Baltimore Check-in
Foursquare is designed to get people out and exploring their cities. In Baltimore, Urbanite magazine and radio station WTMD have taken encouraging exploration one step further with the Great Baltimore Check-in. They’re offering real prizes for residents to get out and explore their city using foursquare.
For the promotion, they’ve chosen 89 locations in the Baltimore area that “make you an Urbanite.” The spots range from architectural highlights to cultural icons. They’re arranged into “trips” focusing on a central theme or area.
Foursquare users who’ve linked their account on the contest website earn points each time they check in at one of the recommended spots. There are bonus points for completing entire trips, being the first to check in at certain places or answering trivia questions.
The points help contestants move up the leaderboard and qualify for prizes. The prizes range from a Vespa (you have to check in to all 89 spots to be eligible) and a “WTMD DJ for a Day” experience to gift certificates for restaurants and attractions around the city.
The Great Baltimore Check-in looks like a fun way to encourage residents to get out and explore parts of Baltimore that they might not normally visit.
What do you think? Would you compete in something like this if it were held in your city?
