Today TopGuest announced a partnership with InterContinental Hotels Group where foursquare users will receive Priority Club Rewards points for each checkin at an IHG property. Users will receive 50 points for each day they check in at any of the more than 4,400 hotels worldwide.
TopGuest allows you to link your foursquare (or other location-based networks like Gowalla, Brightkite and Twitter) to your hotel rewards accounts. Priority Club is by far their biggest partnership to date. They also have deals with Standard Hotels and the Soho & Tribeca Grand. Besides hotels, they’re hoping to add partners across the travel industry.
When you check in, points are added directly to your rewards account with the participating hotel that can be used for things like hotel stays, airline miles and tickets, and dining or shopping certificates.
“Partnering with Topguest allows us to reward our members with Priority Club points each time they virtually check-in at an IHG hotel, whether it’s for a good night’s sleep, or for a coffee in the hotel’s restaurant,” said Lincoln Barrett, vice president, Guest Marketing and Alliances, IHG. “We think it has the potential to further enhance loyalty with current and future guests.”
Some of IHG’s participating properties include InterContinental Hotels, Hotel Indigo, Crowne Plaza Hotels, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites. The 50 point reward is relatively small compared to what you earn by actually staying in the hotel (5 or 10 points per dollar, depending on the brand), but are a nice bonus for geo-social network users.
TopGuest’s biggest strength is that once you’ve linked your accounts, there’s nothing else to do. You just keeping checking in like you always do on whatever network you want and TopGuest works in the background to monitor your checkins and award your points. There’s no need to check in to a separate app.
