Spot the Conan blimp and unlock the Conan Blimpspotter Badge
Conan O’Brien is no stranger to foursquare. He helped unlock New York’s first two Super Swarms and provided a special badge for users who saw his show at Bonnaroo. Now, he’s unleashing what’s probably the greatest foursquare badge promotion to date with help from TBS and AT&T. His blimp is flying up and down the east coast and anyone who spots it can check in and unlock the Conan Blimpspotter badge.
The blimp will visit Philadelphia, New York, Atlanta, Tampa and Boston between now and the end of October. Users who follow TeamCoco on foursquare and check in to the Conan Blimp (you know, “Up in the Sky, Blimpin”) will earn their Blimpspotter badge. The unlock text reads:
You’ve spotted The Conan Blimp! A big orange bag of slow moving gas has never looked so pretty. Visit www.teamcoco.com for more Conan!
The blimp is to promote O’Brien’s new show, Conan, that premieres on TBS this November.
This is a great move for both Conan and foursquare. The blimp is, of course, incredibly visible at the stadiums and other locations it will be visiting. Foursquare is also getting good visibility from it, since the badge is featured prominently on the website for it, which also features a map and live camera. Foursquare is even featured in some of the spots that will be airing on TBS (after the jump).

Sounds like a GREAT way to get visibility for Conan’s show. Just wondering though, since it’s an “In the Air”/moving target type of venue, how is foursquare limiting access to check-in from say, Los Angeles (or anywhere else on the West Coast for that matter)?

I’m betting it’s going to be stopping by area stadiums and such for sporting events. Looks like the majority of unlocks right now are at a Phillies game… though judging by the map there are also some CA checkins on that venue and a couple in Europe.
Ironically, none in Indonesia (that I saw). But I’m pretty sure those wouldn’t show up as Indonesia anyway.
I love all these new badges, and I’m a fan of CoCo, but this sucks for Canadian viewers of his show. The only way we can get this badge is by cheating, and I hate doing that.
whats the use of continuing to play this game if all the good badges is based out of NY? i may quite this game

yuuuup. It’s currently in Texas as we speak/type! Woohoo… I’m surprised the blimp didn’t attend the World Series.

Saw the orange Conan blimp traveling from west to east over Ontario, Montclair and Chino today, about 4PM. I am fascinated with blimps, of any kind, and wondered about it.
